SC to list for hearing plea to debar convicted MPs, MLAs from contesting elections

The SC on Wednesday agreed to list the matter for hearing a plea seeking the establishment of special courts to try criminal cases against lawmakers and to debar those convicted MPs, MLAs from contesting elections for life.
MPs and MLAs are pending before various sessions and magistrate courts across the country, an increase of 862 such cases in the last three years.
