Scientists Discover A New Muscle Hiding Inside The Human Jaw

After discovering a new artery in the arm a few months ago, scientists have discovered a previously unknown body part in the jaw. Situated in the masseter that is responsible for raising the lower jaw and chewing.

Most understandings of the masseter muscle suggest it has two layers, a deep one and a superficial one. According to the study's authors, a third layer has been found mentioned in a "few historical texts" but those positions were found inconsistent.
