Sensex, Nifty end with strong gains

The domestic equity benchmarks ended with strong gains on Thursday. The Nifty closed tad below the 17,800 mark. Traders lapped up shares ahead of RBI's monetary policy outcome and Q2 earnings season that is set to kick off on Friday.
The Nifty 50 index added 144.35 points or 0.82% to 17,790.35. On the BSE, 2237 shares rose and 1066 shares fell.
