Sensex Crashes 1,730 pts, Rs 7 Lakh Crore Wiped Off Today

The benchmark indices continued to trade near the day's low with heavy losses in the afternoon trade. The Nifty traded below the 15,800 level. All the sectoral indices on the NSE traded in the red with IT, PSU Bank and Private Bank indexes declining the most.
Global cues were weak as investors shunned risky assets on worries that aggressive interest rate hikes by global central banks would stifle economic growth.
