Sixth extension sought for framing CAA rules

Though the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed by the Parliament and approved by the President in December 2019, it hasn't been implemented as the rules have not been framed.NDTV reported that the Home Ministry has asked for a sixth extension from the parliamentary committees as it needs more time to frame the rules.

NDTV pointed out that the rules for any Act need to be framed within six months of it being approved by the President, but since the government couldn't do that, it asked for five extension periods, the last of which ended yesterday.
