TRAI recommends CNAP Supplementary Service to display caller names

Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) Supplementary Service would utilise caller identity information provided in their Customer Application Forms (CAFs). While existing tools like Truecaller utilise crowd-sourced data for similar purposes, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) highlighted concerns about their reliability. Businesses with bulk or corporate connections could display their preferred names, subject to verification of ownership.
