Varanasi: Bright sun adds to festivity of Makar Sankranti

Thousands of people thronged the ghats along the Ganga to take a dip in the holy river on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, while the sky remained dotted with kites of vibrant colours throughtout the day on Sunday. The ghats were heavily crowded even before sunrise as the devotees started heading to the river on Saturday night itself. Heavy police force remained deployed at the ghats while NDRF and PAC flood company personnel also kept vigil on river stream.
