Inspector Madhukar Zende is as well known to those who lived in Goa in 1986 as the infamous Charles Sobhraj, back in the news for being released from a Nepalese prison after serving decades incarcerated for his horrible crimes. Zende, then a sub-inspector in the Mumbai police, stumbled upon his prey as he dined with his team in the O Coqueiro restaurant.
