The Government of India passes a mandate to make NavIC compulsory on all phones. NavIC is India's homegrown navigation system developed by ISRO. NavIC is India's homegrown navigation system developed by ISRO for military and commercial purposes.
The GOI has passed a mandate stating - all smartphone manufacturers including foreign brands - will have to enable NavIC in all of their smartphones to be sold in India, starting January 1, 2023
