Exactly half a century ago, a record was released in Boston that paved the way for one of America’s most influential hard rock bands, Aerosmith. In 1973, Steve Tyler’s band had just decided on their line-up, were becoming recognizable on Boston stages and were gradually diluting British rocker covers with their own creativity – the result was the first self-titled album. Two years later, Dream On rocketed to the top of the charts and became, by far, the biggest hit of Aerosmith’s early work.
