WHO calls on China to release more information on Covid-19

The World Health Organization has called on China to release information about its surge in Covid-19 infections after the government announced nearly 60,000 deaths since early December following weeks of complaints that it was not telling the world what was going on. Saturday’s announcement was the first official death toll since the ruling Communist Party abruptly dropped anti-virus restrictions in December, despite a wave of infections sweeping hospitals.
