7-Eleven Australia has installed new facial recognition tech at more than 700 stores across the country.  It will be used to verify customer feedback. The convenience store chain insists the software is "not used for any other purpose".

In the US, Target and Walmart among others have experimented with facial recognition to combat shoplifting and fraud. Despite the language used in the signage, 7-Eleven insists that the facial recognition tech is only activated when customers use the Rate It tablet.
