Why Shaksgam Valley, claimed by India, was ceded to China by Pakistan in 1963

The Ministry of External Affairs said it has lodged a strong protest with China for once again carrying out construction activities in the Shaksgam valley that falls in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), located 5,400 sq km north of Siachen and forms a strategically key location for the Chinese, giving them an advantage along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Shaksgam Valley or the Trans Karakoram Tract is part of Hunza-Gilgit region of the PoK.
