Zee Entertainment announces merger with Sony; Punit Goenka to lead new entity

Zee Entertainment and Sony Pictures on Wednesday said they have received in-principle approval for a merger that will combine both companies' linear networks, digital assets, production operations, and program libraries.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Punit Goenka will lead the merged entity. Shares of Zee Entertainment zoomed 25 percent after the announcement of a merger with Sony Pictures.
